The recently opened research center at Hunan University of Medicine in China has been named in honor of Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, a professor from Pakistan.
According to a news release, this center will house 17 full-time scholars committed to promoting scientific cooperation between China and Pakistan.
Established in 1912, the Chinese national public medical university has 14,425 full-time students, more than 4,500 staff members, and about 20 undergraduate and graduate medical programs.
In the past, Dr. Choudhary has promoted collaboration between Chinese and Pakistani experts, especially the establishment of research facilities between the two nations.
A number of honors have also been bestowed upon him, including civil honors such as Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. He received the Mustafa Prize in 2021 in recognition of his contributions to the field of bio-organic chemistry.

He is the World Academy of Sciences for Central and South Asia's vice president at the moment. He also holds research fellow status with scientific organizations including the Royal Society of Chemistry in London and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS).
According to the statement, the construction of this facility is an important step in enhancing scientific research cooperation between China and Pakistan.
