KARACHI: Industry executives, innovators, and experts convened for a day-long conference on Tuesday to talk about the revolutionary potential of mental sciences and artificial intelligence in boosting customer engagement and propelling organizational success.

The event titled “New age innovations: AI tools and mindscience for customer growth” was organised by the New World Concepts at a local hotel here.

Yang Yundong, the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Karachi, gave the opening remarks for the first session, stressing the close technical ties between China and Pakistan and talking about the advantages that both countries stand to gain from advances in AI and technology.

With its superiority in research, industry, and policy, China has become a global leader in artificial intelligence. Innovative research and technology are produced by its universities and businesses, and strategic growth is fueled by programs like the New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan, he said.

Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, a former federal minister of science and technology and Unesco Science Laureate, explored the relationship between mind science, the brain, and human behavior in his keynote lecture on "Mindscience and human behavior."

He discussed the impact on society of the explosive expansion of disruptive technologies and generative AI in the fields of education, health, and other fields. He went on to discuss how AI was improving education and how pupils were benefiting from personal robotic tutors, saying, "Invest in your children, in their education."

The co-founder and CEO of Vispera, Turkiye, Dr Aytul Ercil, spoke about the the rise of AI and its place in our lives.

"AI is transforming various aspects of modern life, from healthcare to entertainment, and from transportation to education," she said, detailing the revolutionary advancements in image recognition and highlighting Vispera's state-of-the-art services in providing image recognition solutions for fast-moving consumer goods. She also shared her experiences leading a tech-driven company and talked about the pervasive role of AI in modern life and its potential in the future.

A panel discussion on ‘The impact of innovations on organisations’ growth potential’ explored how technological innovations were reshaping ways of work and driving growth, with real-world examples of AI implementation.

“Innovation leads to optimised processes, reducing costs and resource use,” said MD of EFU Life Assurance Ltd Mohammed Ali Ahmed.

 

“Innovation helps organisations stay attuned to changing customer preferences, new products, services, or markets can lead to increased revenues,” he added.

Atyab Tahir, co-founder and CEO of HugoBank, emphasized how data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) were promoting inclusivity in the financial industry, increasing access to financial services, and enhancing financial literacy.

Ibn-e-Sina Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at Aga Khan University, Dr Zainab Samad, spoke on ‘How AI is affecting health and well-being’.

She discussed how the constant usage of new technology affected the brain and social interactions while outlining the revolutionary effects of AI on patient care and medical diagnostics.

A panel on "Leveraging AI for customer engagement" was led by celebrity actress and entrepreneur Sarwat Gilani, and included Dr. Zainab Samad, Group Executive of Digital Banking at UBL Sharjeel Shahid, and CEO of Engro Powergen Qadirpur Semeen Akhter.

Using successful AI-driven customer engagement projects as examples, the panel explored how AI technologies may improve customer experiences, personalize interactions, and increase efficiency.

Chairperson of Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) Ronak Lakhani, along with SOP Global Messenger Haseeb Abbasi, presented on their inclusive initiatives, underlining the transformative power of sports in improving lives of differently-abled persons.

CEO of Ekkel AI Ahsan Memon demonstrated AI as a tool of the future, showcasing practical applications of AI technologies in various industries.

He said that artificial intelligence was a broad instrument that made it possible to reconsider how individuals analyzed data, integrated information, and applied the insights to make better decisions.

CEO and Director of 1Link (Pvt) Ltd Najeeb Agrawalla, SVP of Data & AI at VentureDive Imran Moinuddin, and Ahsan Memon participated in a panel discussion on the "Application of Innovative Technologies."

Moderated by Suleman Ansar Khan, the panel explored how innovative technologies were transforming business operations.

The discussion included insights on implementing AI tools, overcoming challenges, and maximising the benefits of technological advancements.

EVP of SBE Holdings, Canada, Qashif Effendi, discussed ‘Boosting sales with generative AI’, while illustrating how AI could enhance marketing and sales strategies.

Abbas Arsalan, a former vice president of marketing at Coca-Cola, spoke about "creativity and the power of AI." He discussed insights from his experience spearheading marketing campaigns at a multinational company and emphasized how AI may promote creative processes and innovation in marketing.

The audience was welcomed by Yasmin Hyder, CEO of New World Concepts, who also emphasized the importance of innovation and artificial intelligence in the modern workplace and the necessity of upskilling for the newest technology.
